The weekend didn't exactly go as planned.
Bob and I arrived at the boat late Friday night after stopping at Pizza Hut Italian Bistro in Port Clinton for dinner (It's a new, "fancy" Pizza Hut that serves sandwiches and pasta, along with pizza... it was better than expected).
Getting to the boat around dusk, we had the "pleasure" of being there around the time the ugly, nasty "
May flies" swarm all over the boat and dock and cars and anything else they can land on. So, Bob decided that he wanted to hose down the boat.
However, he noticed that the garden hose that he usually stores on the dock was missing. Thinking that was quite odd that someone would steal a garden hose, we continued to open up the boat for the weekend.
Unfortunately, we learned the hose wasn't the only thing missing! :-(
Sometime between Monday, July 4 around noon and Friday, July 8 around 8pm, someone had boarded the boat and decided that what was ours was going to be theirs now. There were quite a few things missing --- some very valuable and some very trivial.
It was an awful feeling to know that someone had been on the boat while we were gone -- someone that did not belong on the boat. And that person (or persons) had gone through the drawers and the closets looking at (and taking) things that didn't belong to him/her.
How could anyone do that!?!?!??!
You feel so violated and vulnerable. I've never been the victim of theft before and despite the fact that most everything stolen belonged to Bob, I still had (and still do) a total feeling of disgust.
Surprisingly... Bob handled the whole thing very well. (Much better than I would have if I were in his shoes.) I'm very proud of him! As he said, "It's only stuff and it's all replaceable." Nothing had sentimental value (well... except for my Carnival Cruise coozie and my very special coozie that Bob bought me that said "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much"--- my FAVORITE saying!! That coozie was very special to me because he gave it to me last summer and told me that I now had my very own coozie to use while we were on the boat. For those wondering what the heck a coozie is... it's a soft foam holder for pop and/or beer cans!)
Anyway... despite the awful start to the weekend, we managed to turn it around and make it a nice weekend. On Sunday, we went to Geauga Lake with my parents and Stephen & Sarah. We somehow talked mom into riding the Scrambler. (I don't think she'll ever forgive us!)
And we ended the day with us all riding the merry-go-round. It was a really fun day! Bob and I definitely needed something fun to end the weekend.
I haven't downloaded the Geauga Lake photos from my camera yet, but when I do... I'll post a couple.
Well, it's bedtime now. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. I get to wear my new Silpada jewelry!! (The tough part will be deciding which piece(s) to wear since I got a few.) And, it's TNR so we're going to
Winking Lizard in Pennisula for dinner.
YUMMY!!! (I LOVE the Buffalo Chicken Salad with mild instead of hot sauce and ranch instead of blue cheese.) I cannot wait!!! (TNR = Tuesday Night Ritual... Bob and a couple of his friends get together almost every Tuesday for dinner and I'm lucky enough to get invited to join them.)
4 more days... until it's just me in the department
